This subspecies is more commonly known as the central bornean orangutan.

 

The central bornean orangutan is the largest of the three subspecies of bornean orangutan and can only be found in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia on the island of Borneo.

 

It is believed that there are less than 40,000 individuals remaining in the wild.
