The simiiformes contain all old and new world monkeys and the apes.

 

Simiiformes are more commonly called simians.

 

Simians split into two groups around 40 million years ago.  Those two groups, referred to as parvorders, are platyrrhini and catarrhini.

 

Plaryrrhini is more commonly known as new world monkeys, which contain monkeys such as marmosets, tamarins and spider monkeys.

 

The catarrhini contain old world monkeys and apes.

 

Humans belongs to the catarrhini.
